Boat Ties!

If I hadn't met my lovely wife, I wouldn't have met her lovely and incredible family and would never have received these marvelous, wonderful ties for Christmas.  Some of you know that I always look for holiday ties but also spend a little time searching for sailing ties without luck. My search is over! Thank you, Kelli!  I love them!  (The red cap I've had for years--it's just backdrop.)

Many will probably remember the Flag Head that I drew on the light shaft window in my old apartment in San Francisco.  As of August 31st, I am no longer a "Hugonaut." I've finally given up my apartment, and so the Flag Head has been removed. Here are "before" and "after" shots, plus a few shots of the now empty apartment.  The Blue Room, which some may remember as the "Perry Como" Room, was in varous interations a study, a library, an office and a place to hang in my hammock and enjoy the occasional sunshine. The name came from the table that was in this room that was given to me by Perry Como's son. (He used to have a boat at a marina I worked at, and gave it to me when he left the marina.)  Long gone now are the days of Club House parties (three storeys, a hundred or so people, live music, bar and more fun than anyone should be allowed to have.)

Taking Namaste back upriver to Bethel Island

First stop, China Camp, where we spent the Solstice.

The sunset was amazing, and then a Strawberry Moon rose.

And morning was pretty great too.

My buddy Jerry was great crew.

Benicia has a nice marina, and Sailor Jack's has great good!  Plus my friend Ginger has a martini named after her there.  How rad is that?

Then on to Benicia, Bradford and the homeport.  In Benicia, we had some downy visitors.

It was downwind almost the whole trip, especially in the Straights.

But four days from our start in Berkeley, we're on the south side of Frank's Tract, 3 miles from the berth.
A grest trip once again!

Thanks to Jerry Minister, Greg Popejoy and Tom Rowe. And Ginger for great company.

My love, Muffinated.  A relaxing, beautiful camping weekend.  It's rough in a three-room tent the size of a small garage , sleeping on a queen size blow-up bed. At least we had Peet's!

A heart of gold, Richard Andrew Sylvain.  Rest In P eace, my friend.
