Burning Man 2012
It was a trip fantastica! A couple of Larry's, five Smiths, a Steve, a Sheila, three Smith girls, a Trevor and a Kris. Five veterans, three virgins. Friends Georgia and Eric with their little ones (also virgins) as the greatest neighbors ( and also Chelsea, Dustin, Frank and Dr. Tom).
Dust Storms, white outs, shooting stars, lightening, rain, heat, white devils as the man burned. The time of our lives, undoubtedly. Many lessons learned, many friends made. The Burn is like Fellini, Barnum & Bailey, Mad Max and Pee Wee's Playhouse all rolled into one, with you walking around inside the mayhem and seeming and seaming madness.
Many of my friends have gone for years and tried to get me to go; they cajoled me, persuaded me, offered to buy my ticket, and, really, I didn't go because a) horribly stressful job, b) couldn't (and still can't) stand the rave scene and house "music" that they would drag me to every frickin' year after a burn, and c) I can be grumpy and stubborn.
I surrender. Best thing I've ever done and probably ever will. Really. If it's not on your bucket list....
